The NFI not only processes the non-ferrous (NF) metals recovered by HEROS; the plant also serves as a hub for processing NF metals from the REMEX Group’s other IBA processing plants. The recently completed expansion of the NF-installation in the Dutch Sluiskil was carried out to provide greater control over the on-site recycling processes and to further reduce dust emissions. By moving more activities indoors, HEROS can better manage its operations while contributing to a cleaner and safer working environment for both employees and the surrounding community.
Completion in time – captured in a time-lapse video
Construction of the expansion began on December 1, 2025. Over the past months, significant work has been carried out to enhance the installation. The result includes:
- a new hall for fully enclosed loading of finished products
- a 50% increase in processing capacity through the expansion of the technical installation
- a doubling of covered storage capacity
- the ability to store and process 100% of HEROS’ non-ferrous concentrate indoors
Looking ahead
The REMEX Group is fully committed to the optimisation and improvement of its sites worldwide. With this investment, HEROS is taking the next step in the ongoing development of its installations, further strengthening process control, operational efficiency, and environmental protection. During the official opening ceremony, Managing Director Paul Dijkman and Production Manager Jimmy van Laere jointly unveiled the result of months of preparation, collaboration, and dedication. It is an achievement to be proud of, one that would not have been possible without the commitment of all colleagues and partners involved.
