Replacement of the existing building
The approximately 40-year-old prefabricated administrative and operational building, which has hitherto been used exclusively by the Recklinghausen site, no longer meets today’s workplace requirements and is now to be replaced by a modern new building. The project is currently in the planning phase. The architectural plans have been submitted, the planning permission application has been submitted and construction is scheduled to begin later this year.
Architecture with plenty of natural light and greenery
As with previous construction projects for the REMEX Group, FRECK-HÜBNER Architekten GmbH is responsible for the design of this new building in the Ruhr region. The firm has already overseen the planning for the company’s headquarters and its extension in Düsseldorf. The design in Recklinghausen also features a timeless aesthetic with red brick and generous window areas that flood the building with natural light. The architecture is complemented by modern interior elements that open up the spaces and create a team-oriented atmosphere. A sophisticated landscaping concept rounds off the overall impression.
Space for expansion
The new building covers a gross floor area of 990 m² and offers plenty of space for offices, meeting and technical rooms, as well as modern staff facilities and communal areas. In the future, the site will bring together the administrative staff from the Westphalia-Ruhr Region, who have previously been based at locations in Bochum, Lünen, Essen and Recklinghausen. The aim is to centralise management, sales and administrative processes – while the operational functions at these sites will remain locally. The building is designed to accommodate further growth and includes expansion potential for new staff.
Restructuring of the site
REMEX has been operating in Recklinghausen as a recycler of mineral construction waste for more than three decades. On the approximately 40,000 m² site, up to 300,000 tonnes of mineral materials are processed annually in the recycling plant and 48,000 tonnes in the Montamex plant. The site thus makes an important contribution to the regional circular economy. As part of the planned new building, the opportunity is being taken to alter the traffic flow on the site; operational traffic such as lorries, wheel loaders and small delivery vehicles will be separated from stationary traffic, and the parking situation is also set to be significantly improved. Following demolition, part of the area previously occupied by the container building will once again be available as operational space for the recycling plant.
