Ash in the WtE plant bunker

Ash in the WtE plant bunker

This is how the recycling of residues from the waste-to-energy (WtE) plant begins – with loading of the raw incinerator bottom ash (IBA) into the slag bunker. Once the material arrives at our facility, the metals and mineral components that IBA contains are processed so for later reuse as secondary raw materials in metal production and construction. Facts from the recycling plant

Facts from the recycling plant

Bottom ash from waste incineration contains approximately 7.7% by mass of scrap iron. One tonne of this reduces greenhouse gas emissions from metal production by 1.75 tonnes of CO₂ equivalent. What emerges from this processing is therefore a genuine contribution to climate protection – not greenwashing!

Non-ferrous metal recovery in Oberhausen

Non-ferrous metal recovery in Oberhausen

Video evidence that the processing of bottom ash from waste incineration is essential to the circular economy: non-ferrous metal separators, shown here at our plant in Oberhausen, extract non-ferrous metals such as aluminium and copper. Valuable recycled metals for industry and indispensable for achieving climate protection targets.

Repair of storm damage

Repair of storm damage

Last week at the Haus Forst landfill site in Kerpen, we felt the full force of the local storms that followed the heatwave: gale-force winds and heavy rain coincided with the ongoing construction work at the site. As a result, a section of the waterproofing had to be repaired. The film shows how the clay layer beneath the plastic membrane is smoothed out again, first with a shovel and then with a roller, until the clay shines like a mirror once more. Only then can the membrane be correctly positioned again and welded to the next section.

Dismantling of the old plant in Cologne

Dismantling of the old plant in Cologne

A short video clip showing the Cologne site, featuring the dismantling of the 45-tonne jaw crusher from the old plant. The new control room container is already in place. This means we are on schedule with the construction of the new recycling plant. We would like to take this opportunity to thank Hess GmbH, who are responsible for this part of the work.
