Strengthening the Mineral Recycling Industry Through the Merger of BRB and IGAM
With today’s launch of its website, bkme-verband.de, the newly founded Federal Association for Mineral Recycling and Sustainable Waste Management (BMKE) is now online as a new, powerful advocacy group for the industry.
The BMKE emerged from the Federal Association for Recycled Building Materials (BRB), which, with revised statutes and a new name, now represents the interests of waste incineration slag processors and recyclers (IGAM) in addition to the issues of the building materials recycling industry. A new specialist group has been added to cover the area of underground recovery and disposal. The management of the new association, headquartered in Berlin-Mitte, is led by Maximilian Meyer, who previously managed the operations of BRB and IGAM.
The BMKE is a member of the European umbrella organisation FIR (Fédération Internationale du Recyclage), which has been working closely with the European Waste Management Association (FEAD) since February of last year to promote the goals of the mineral recycling economy at the international level.
